We Need a Little Joy at this challenging time, time to lift our spirits and our hearts

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, a time for family and friends to be thankful for all they have, and share in the bounty of friendship, love, warmth, and delectable food. But, this season has been dampened by the terrible terrorist attacks, most recently in Paris, but in parts all over globe. What should be a celebration of unity is palled by those who only want division and destruction, power and control no matter the cost. We must stay strong in the light of these threats, and remember what it means to be a ‘family of humans’. Although Thanksgiving may have had its roots in religion, it has evolved as a secular celebration, for the bounty and harvest of the previous year, and has become a celebration of gratitude. I wish you all a joyous and safe holiday.
