But Tom Hope, founder of this wonderful Welsh Pub, closed on a bang Sunday night! Tom created this terrific pub in 2002, a place where friends and neighbors could meet for casual dining and great beer drinking, along with some excellent live music at various times during the week and weekends. The Pub has now changed hands, the Ballingers, a family who owns property nearby, are the new owners, and will continue to operate the business as a bar and grill. They plan on renovating the building, and offering a wine bar upstairs, with a wide variety of high end wines on the menu for more serious oenophiles. According to their website, they also own Webster Hall, calling it the largest nightclub in NYC. And City Beer Hall in Albany. It will be interesting and exciting to see what they do with the pub. It’s certain to be a great new addition to the Village of Chatham! Meanwhile, Tom will move on to his next venture, opening an ice-cream parlor in the back of his wife’s store, American Pie, just across the street! Always fun to have more and new dining, entertainment spots in Town.
Congratulations and much good luck to all parties. Although, being pros, I don’t think they’ll need it!
